Cosmo Canyon. Nibelheim. racing of dolphins. Valentine Vincent. A Sephiroth with only one wing. Dyne, Marlene’s father. One minigame leads to another and even others. The game’s trailer poses the question, “The world will be saved, but will you?” with essentially no hint as to what would happen to Aerith in the game.
Though Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is not the end of the remake of the game and will be followed by another game, Sony and Square Enix want to make sure that fans know this is a can’t-miss event when it launches on February 29.
However, I have to admit that the more than 15 minutes of video that Sony and Square Enix published today have me fairly thrilled. I’m a major fan of the original PS1 game and originally decided against playing the remake because of it. a large globe map featuring every place, minigame, and memory I can recall! Fresh friends and pair moves like Cait Sith whirling around brandishing Cloud’s sword! Traditional blocky characters! 400 recently released Final Fantasy tracks! The PS5’s SSD allows for 4K visuals at 60 frames per second with assets of better resolution than in Remake!
Was this much actually jammed into one game? We’ll see in three weeks, I suppose, or perhaps even sooner now that a playable sample is here. Then again, when Square Enix adds some Junon territory to that demo update!
