A creative God of War fan presents their intriguing design idea for Kratos donning a headpiece, something that he hasn’t historically done in the games.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Using a Greek hoplite helmet, a fan has made a design idea depicting Kratos from God of War wearing headgear.
- Kratos’ sole available headgear in the newest God of War game, Ragnarok, is waistguards, gauntlets, and chestplates.
- God of War Ragnarok may be getting a PC adaptation, according to speculations, which follow Sony’s recent trend of bringing PlayStation-only properties to Windows.
A God of War fan has revealed their conceptual idea for how Kratos, the game’s protagonist, who is often bald, may seem while wearing headgear. Fans of God of War like giving Kratos multiple appearances, especially now that the character can don several outfits in the newer games.
The most recent game in the series, God of War Ragnarok, is still going strong even after it was initially released on the PlayStation 5 back in November 2022. By providing them with crafting materials, Kratos is able to have the Dwarven blacksmith brothers Sindri and Brok create new sets of armor for him throughout the game. Kratos, however, may only equip waistguards, gauntlets, and chestplates; he cannot wear headgear.
How Would Kratos Appear If His Headgear Was Visible?
The God of War subredditor PatFury uploaded a unique design of Kratos wearing headgear, a Greek hoplite helmet, in the classic way. With the Draupnir Spear, which he obtains in God of War Ragnarok, along with a shield, Kratos assumes the appearance of a true Greek soldier, giving him a whole new appearance that some have compared to his magical Spartan armor from the previous game when he would become angry. Perhaps in an effort to emphasize his face and distinctive bald look, Kratos has never been shown with any kind of headgear in previous depictions.
It appears like there might not be any new significant God of War material to release in 2024 after Valhalla’s release to wrap up 2023. While Sony prepares for its next major step in the franchise, announcements on further entries in the series may be forthcoming.
The series’ most popular rumor at the moment is that a PC version of God of War Ragnarok will release this year. But keep in mind that this Reddit leak is truly just an unverified rumor, so proceed with caution. It wouldn’t be out of the question to assume that an announcement on this front may be forthcoming sooner rather than later, though, since fans are aware that Sony now makes the most of its properties and series that were originally unique to the PlayStation by bringing them to Windows for more players to enjoy.
As the notoriously grumpy Kratos underwent significant character growth thanks to Ragnarok and Valhalla, fans are eager to see where the God of War narrative will go from here. In the near future, a follow-up may even put more of an emphasis on Atreus, who is maturing quickly and would be a suitable replacement for the main character in the series.
