Arthur “Mr. Podunkian” Lee, a former Stardew Valley creator, has revealed that Sunkissed City, his next game, will launch later this year. The indie game offers fans of the farming simulation a fresh take on a familiar experience by fusing several beloved Stardew Valley characteristics with the excitement of city living.
Prior to the current 1.6 version, Lee collaborated with ConcernedApe on Stardew Valley, helping to create the game’s 1.4 and 1.5 patches. Lee created the Sanpo engine while working on Stardew Valley, which will be used in further ConcernedApe projects. In 2022, Lee departed from ConcernedApe LLC to work on his personal endeavors. Lee claims that he received approval to utilize ConcernedApe’s assets for his agricultural game. Ever since, Lee has been using Twitter to keep fans informed about his work on the game, which was just given the official title, Sunkissed City.
Lee said that Sunkissed City can now be added to your Steam wishlist and will likely launch on PC in Q4 2024, with a console release following shortly after. Sunkissed City, a widely awaited release for lovers of these classic games, is inspired by realistic living simulations such as Harvest Moon and, of course, Stardew Valley. The life simulation takes place in Apollo City, a quirky coastal city where users may make friends with intriguing locals and try to revitalize the area. Farming, foraging, and fishing are just a few of the many related skills and activities that Sunkissed City will provide, along with some intriguing new elements.
Anticipations for Sunkissed City
As a recent hire at Pico Corporation, players will tour the city and must provide support for the company’s new environmentally conscious projects. But given the dead rivers, hostile animals, monster-infested sewers, and unexplained migraines that plague the people of Apollo metropolis, it appears like Sunkissed City may be an environmentally concerned game that assigns players to clean up the metropolis. Along the journey, in addition to mastering genre-defining abilities like cooking, fishing, fighting, and the like, players may level up in unique abilities like reading, eating, and sleeping. Naturally, players may make friends with the eccentric locals of Apollo City and take advantage of the businesses they operate, including Henk, the proprietor of The Weird Dog Café, and Mingo, the hairdresser at Salon Flamingo.
Fans of the sim genre will love Sunkissed City’s many entertaining elements in addition to Apollo City’s hip and neon-filled environment. With Haunted Chocolatier on the horizon in addition to Sunkissed City and Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update anticipated to launch in 2024, it appears like fans of the game have a lot to look forward to.
