Helldivers 2 demonstrates its worth once more with an incredible sales achievement, this time ranking in the UK physical charts.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • With consistent growth, Helldivers 2 secures the fourth position in the UK physical charts, reaching an uncommon sales milestone.
  • The game’s success caused players to endure lengthy wait times, so the developer increased the server capacity to accommodate 800,000 people.
  • Even with massive AAA releases, Helldivers 2 manages to hold its own—a remarkable accomplishment for a tiny studio that will probably pick up steam.

Helldivers 2 appears to be on the rise despite the setbacks it has had recently, as it has achieved yet another exceptional sales achievement, this time in the physical charts of the United Kingdom. Given that highly anticipated AAA titles often occupy the top spots on the ranking, Helldivers 2’s placement there alone represents a noteworthy accomplishment.

So far, this year has been full of surprises, with games like Palworld and Helldivers 2 seeing tremendous popularity in their first few months of release. Players in Helldivers 2 eventually had to wait hours to start playing the game because of the game’s unprecedented growth. Fortunately, things have greatly improved since then. Helldivers 2’s server capacity has been increased by the creators to accommodate an incredible 800,000 concurrent users at any given time. Additionally, the game’s sales seem to be increasing, suggesting that the makers’ efforts were not in vain.

Top Helldivers 2 The UK Charts: Skull and Bones, Eyes Mario vs. Donkey Kong Next

As stated in a tweet by Christopher Dring, Head of GamesIndustry.biz, Helldivers 2 is now firmly established at number four in the physical rankings for the United Kingdom. This is after the game’s third week saw a 20% increase in players. The most amazing thing, though, is that Helldivers 2 has grown for the second week in a row, which is quite uncommon. Additionally, because digital sales data take a little longer to arrive, they haven’t been released yet.

Conversely, Mario vs. Donkey Kong has had a 62% decline in sales, dropping it to the third spot. Skull & Bones has likely had one of the worst declines, falling all the way to the 16th spot with a 68% decrease in sales. As a reminder, the top three games from the previous week were Helldivers 2 at number 7, Skull & Bones at number 4, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong at number 1. Nevertheless, the decline isn’t entirely unexpected because Skull & Bones’ declining metacritic score was a sign of things to come.

It is important to remember that these rankings are based on units sold, not income, as Dring also emphasized. It’s impressive that Helldivers 2, which was created by a team of about a hundred people, has held its own against such significant releases. It won’t be shocking to see Helldivers 2 pick up steam and keep climbing the charts in the next few days, given the server problems have improved over the last few days.
