One fan’s suggestion for a support character with a botany theme stands out among the other suggestions fans have submitted for potential Overwatch 2 heroes because of how drastically this hypothetical character would alter the meta of the game. Many fans have attempted to create new characters for the roster, but this one goes above and beyond with a distinct moveset that is so well realized that it is easy to see them being introduced to Overwatch 2 in the near future.
The cast of Overwatch is perhaps the franchise’s biggest asset. In addition to offering a variety of gameplay options, Overwatch’s roster of 39 unique characters has created a vivid image of the game’s universe, its history, and its many factions through their unique personalities and stories. Thus, it makes sense that fans have been motivated to develop their own fan-made Overwatch hero concepts, picturing how their unique heroes would behave and fit into the game’s universe.
Recently, member Gardenghi16 posted their idea for a support character they named Eden on Reddit, and what they had to show was really amazing. Apart from an Overwatch-appropriate design by artist DG Mun, Gardenghi16 detailed a full set of accessories for the character that center around her ability to heal her friends and bestow upon them plant-based skills.

- Fertile Soil: E: Establishes a plant field that improves the condition of allies in its sphere of influence. Rather, enemies within the AOE suffer damage and have less healing.
- Photosynthesis: Left Shift: Covers Eden with a tornado of leaves, lessening harm, quickening movement, and eliminating adverse consequences.
Additionally, Gardenghi16 provided a detailed backstory for their Overwatch character, revealing Eden to be the daughter of one of the Oasis, a desert city’s founders. There, she cultivated an innate aptitude for science and grew interested in botany, which ultimately inspired her to play Overwatch. Once that was done, Eden would work at an Ecopoint facility in the Amazon to further her agricultural research. She would continue her work through the end of Overwatch and ultimately re-join the group once it was reformed in the current Overwatch 2 plot.
Overall, Eden’s reaction has been excellent. Fans have shown curiosity about Gardenghi16’s Ultimate’s capacity to charge other Ultimates and have praised her concept for both her outfit and her history. Having said that, several pointed out that Eden would likely be a touch too strong for a support role, given her skill set. If Blizzard were to formally release her in her current form, it is likely that they would have to reduce her powers and the amount of healing she can provide, much as they did with Illari, the previous support character from Overwatch 2.
