Mythic Entertainment and Electronic Arts, have announced a date for the open beta of their highly anticipated MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Rekoning. Folks who have preordered the game will be able to jump in starting September 7th,2008 and will be able to get a headstart before the game officially goes live on September 18th.
“For three years we have been saying that ‘WAR is coming’ and the team has been working hard to deliver on this promise,” said Mark Jacobs, co-founder and general manager of Mythic Entertainment. “In just a few weeks, we are going to throw open our doors and invite more players into the game than ever before. They will have a chance to delve into the open beta and see for themselves that WAR has arrived and it is glorious!”
Mythic and FilePlanet.com have partnered to host the open beta,North American, Australia and New Zealand, which is on a first come first serve basis. The open beta client has been availible since August 15th, 2008. You can find it here.
Players who were able to get into the closed beta will be granted access to the open beta automatically. While anyone who has preordered the game must visit the Mythic Entertainment account center, located here to create an account and enter their beta code. After which they will then be able to download the client from FilePlanet.com for free.
I’ve got my preorder all set, looks like I’ll be heading over and making my account later on tonight. I can’t wait for this game to come out, though I’ve never played the tabletop game, Warhammer has a great history, I’m interested to see how well it translates into a MMO.
